There’s a new kid on the block – or should we say putt putt green – and they’ve sure made a grand entrance into the mini golf scene in Brisbane.

Grab a beer or cocktail with one hand and take a swing at Garden Golf Putt Putt with the other. Yep, you read that right. St Lucia Golf Links’ new putt putt course is fully licensed so you can order a drink of your choice and take it with you to keep you hydrated (and to keep the game interesting).

The 12 greens that make up the new putt putt course are riddled with obstacles to keep the game fun, competitive, interesting and challenging. Every green has four holes, each at different difficulty levels, so everyone can join in on the fun. The kids even have a dedicated hole on each green too! It’s not just any putt putt course either – winding around turns and bends with mountainous rocks, bridges, trick shots, swinging poles and more, your game is sure to be nothing short of unexpected and exciting.

Are you worried it will get too busy and you’ll stand twiddling your thumbs as you wait? Fear not! The newly built Garden Golf Pavilion boasts panoramic views and plenty of seating, where guests can sit and enjoy a drink and some food before or after their game. Order a cold pressed juice, funky cocktail, boutique beer or a chilled glass of wine and pair it with some of the best pizzas in town from Hundred Acre Bar. And yes, there is a dedicated kids menu too!

Director Jens Holland said they wanted to make golf “fun, affordable and accessible”.

“Golf is so much more than 18 holes on the green,” Jens said.

“With young families looking for fun and entertainment outdoors, it made perfect sense. There’s a driving force for venues to become more family friendly (and) this was the answer.”

Jens said their vision for the next five to ten years was to become “the best public golfing facility in Australia with cutting edge technology”.

Since 2017, St Lucia Golf Links has undergone a multi-million dollar upgrade to create a unique and unmatched golfing, dining and event experience. Upgrades to Hundred Acre Bar included the new bar, a new kitchen and stone-fired pizza oven, and the spectacular Garden Golf Pavilion – the perfect addition to the Garden Golf putt putt course.

“We’ve built a new bar… We’ve created an elegant but casual dining experience. Everyone that comes here feels relaxed,” Jens said.

Director of golf Peter Clark said the public response since Garden Golf Putt Putt first opened in early November had been “fantastic”.

“It’s been unbelievable. It’s been a lot more popular than we expected,” Peter said.

“There are lots of families out there playing but it’s open for all ages… A lot of the grandparents are bringing their grandchildren out to play.

“It’s so family friendly it’s crazy.”
