If you haven’t been to Streets Beach, then I’m afraid you haven’t truly experienced Brisbane. The stunning lagoon is Australia’s only inner-city, man-made beach, making it a truly iconic swimming experience. Take in the view of the Brisbane River and CBD as you walk barefoot on the white sand and glide through the water. A swim here is free, meaning you can spend your money on an ice-cream from one of the nearby stalls. There’s plenty on offer for kids too, including the Boat Pool and Aquaitivity!

New 5-star hotel, The Westin Brisbane, is certainly making waves and for all the right reasons. The Nautilus outdoor pool boasts Brisbane’s first (and only) swim-up bar, serving guests cocktails and snacks without having to leave the water. When you’re not looking at the waterproof menu, stare outward to soak in the city views. If you happen to be staying on a Saturday, you’ll also be able to enjoy live music from 2pm.

Spring Hill Baths, Spring Hill

For something a little different, consider Brisbane’s first in-ground pool, the Spring Hill Baths. The heritage-listed pool is easy on the eye with its resorted facade, classic grandstand and change rooms, all originally built in 1886. It’s pretty easy on your pocket too, with a casual swim there costing only $5.80 for adults. Work on your backstroke or simply float to enjoy the view through the sunroof. And of course, a retro swimsuit and a pair of shades would be the ultimate attire here.
